Can someone hook Montreal up with a wave garden please!
After a good night’s rest at the Seascape Inn, we were ready for another surf session. The Wall (North Hampton surf spot) is across the street from the Inn. At 7:30 a.m. a couple of locals were already in the water. After enjoying our complimentary breakfast, we suited up and made it to the surf.
By 9 a.m. we were in the water (the air temperature registered at -5 degrees cel.) with a dozen or so longboarders. The swell was dying, but man alive was it ever fun! Everyone was taking turns dropping in, and sharing waves. Cedric and I surfed the Wall until high tide, and then made our way to Jenness Beach. The waves had defintely dropped in size, but we didn’t care, we were loving every moment! We ended up surfing until 2 p.m., before making our way back to Montreal.
I’d like to thank once again the Seascape Inn for taking good care of us, and letting us come back for showers after our session!
An Atlantic storm hit the east coast Christmas week. The Dacosta brothers (Cedric & Gabriel) et moi, took a drive down to Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. It’s a 5 hour drive from Montreal (one of the closest surf destinations for Montrealers). We weren’t dissapointed!
We arrived early Thursday afternoon, suited up, and drove to Jenness Beach (10 minutes North of Hampton Beach). We couldn’t ask for nicer conditions. No wind, sunny, and waist-shoulder high sets rolling in the whole length of the beach. Everyone was stoked to be in the water and catching waves!
I hadn’t surfed since Toronto, so this was a real blessing! We surfed til’ sunset, swigging back Bushmills to keep us warm.
The good folk at Cinnamon Rainbows Surf shop recommended crashing at the Seascape Inn, which is both affordable and one of the only Motel/Inn’s open year round. They also directed us to Las Olas Taqueria for food. Once again we weren’t diassapointed! Thanks guys!

I met up with tornado warnings and a rain storm in Sudbury, Ontario. Winds were kicking up to 80 clicks per hour. The following day, I decided to hit the Beaches (Toronto’s Eastside), and see whether or not the winds had churned up Lake Ontario enough to surf. To my great suprise, I found waves! I quickly suited up, and SUP’ed for two hours on knee-waist high waves.
There’s something cool about surfing with the CN Tower in the background! The 11’6 Jimmy Styks Big Brother was ideal for catching every wave Lake Ontario sent my way.
As I was getting ready to leave, several surfers came out to surf. The Toronto surf scene is growing!
Yes it’s true. We’ve left Nanaimo, and moved back to Montreal.
We’re still in business. I’ll be focusing more on giving leesons, and personal training on the Lachine Canal. I’ll also be surfing in New England this winter, so keep checking the blog for my East Coast up-dates.
The email address still works, but the (250) phone number doesn’t.
